Clements Engineering working with Goodchild Marine

goodchildClements Engineering have supplied a full stern gear package, including propellers to an innovative new catamaran design from Norfolk boat builder Goodchild Marine. The first SB Lynx 1600 ‘St Aidan’ is the result of new commercial design work from Goodchild Marine. The team at Clements Engineering have been working with Goodchild Marine to ensure the best stern gear and propellers for the vessel.

Goodchild Marine were awarded the contract to build a Fisheries Patrol and Survey Vessel for Northumberland Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (NIFCA) early in 2014 and after discussion with the owners decided to build in GRP.

Goodchild Marine built the hull mould tool first then two hulls, decks, and wheelhouse mouldings. These were joined with very substantial framing and built into the boat that is now ready for commissioning. Once trials are complete she will go to North Shields to enter service, but NIFCA have kindly agreed to let her visit the Seawork Show in June at which Clements Engineering is also exhibiting.

‘St Aidan’ will be on berth V26 at Seawork 2015. In the meantime we can see the launch of the vessel by a 200 tonne crane, with her new propellers in full view.
