Clements Engineering help out local tourist boat company

Clements Engineering recently came to the aid of a local company that offers river cruises on the waterways around Bedford Town Centre area.

The John Bunyan Boat offers both local people and visitors river cruises as well as special interest cruises including Afternoon Tea, Fish & Chip Suppers, Jazz Evenings, Folk on the Boat, Motown & Northern Soul. The boat often caters for private charters, with bookings often being taken from local businesses, schools and community groups for birthdays, wedding/anniversary events, corporate days out, educational trips and many more! All profits made by the boat go towards the Bedford and Milton Keynes waterways trust.

The boat is run by volunteers and they experienced some issues with their stern gear during what has been a very busy summer season. They approached Clements Engineering, who have their factory nearby at St Neots, where they design and manufacture stern gear and propellers for vessels all over the world. The team quickly sorted out the issue on the stern gear and propeller experienced by the boat and donated new stern gear to the project so that the vessel could continue operating efficiently for the rest of the season.

Clements Engineering Managing Director, Paul Williams commented, “We have been pleased to help out this locally based company whom many of us here at Clements know and see locally.  We are particularly looking forward to having a mini river cruise with them sometime in the future”
