In addition to new builds Clements Engineering are often asked to assist customers who need repairs, re-pitches or restorations. We were approached by a customer who was due to re-engine his Aquastar 43. The previous engines were only pulling 17 knots and he wanted to ensure that the boat would achieve more than this without increasing the shaft diameter. It was also important to minimise the cost whilst increasing the efficiency of the new configuration.
Working with the owner, Clements Engineering worked through the gear ratios etc, to ensure that he would achieve his target speed with his new 2 Iveco 420hp engines. Clements Engineering built new shafts and propellers in accordance with the requirements.
Once the boat had been pulled out of the water it was discovered that the vessel also required new glass in brackets, which Clements Engineering managed to turn around in approximately 2-3 weeks.
The result has been 27 knots and the owner is delighted with the results.
